Comments: Built an XP2000 512 Crucial pc2100 and a Seagate 160 GB HDD. I liked the motherboard. Had nice features like CPU temp reading in the POST. Had one problem though even after LOADING OPTMIAL SETTINGS.
Everytime i put any cards in the PCI slots and started to install the driver it would pop up a blue screen and reboot. So I flashed the bios to the newest bios out and it fixed that problem and it ran fine. So four stars.
Oh btw it wasent the modem i tried 7 different modems and even other types of cards like soundcards etc. EPoX has a nice product. But I'm sticking with MSI. Comments: Now that I'm running 3 of these MB's, I decided to read the reviews.
Like 'bigblue' (review below), I've used Epox MB's for longer that I can remember - exclusively. Those who have had problems with setups (even minor ones) are all problems I've seen over the years - but they don't happen IF YOU GO TO BIOS ON FIRST BOOT AND LOAD THE OPTIMIZED DEFAULTS! It does tell you that in Epox manuals but it is buried in the text - and actually a bit out of order. Epox makes a great product but they don't have the fanfare of the big names. They are Fast AND Stable. You will never regret using an Epox MB, but again (and mentioned in bigblue's earlier review) you must load those optimized defaults on first boot to assure an easy setup. And of course - get them from Newegg.
They are awesome, too. Comments: Have used EpoX MB's since the K6-2 boards and all but one were a breeze to set up. This board is no different.
I've used 2 of them now - from New Egg of course - and neither of them had any roblems in set up. To make things go smoothly, however, you MUST go to BIOS setup on first boot and load the optimized defaults then restart. Once you do that, you can go back in and adjust your BIOS settings as you like them. Board is extremely fast and as usual for EpoX, it is rock solid stable.
There have never been compatability problems with any component I've used with Epox MB's except on major brand of memory (I won't mention the name)- generic and all other brands work great. As usual, New Egg and FedEx come through right on schedule and as advertized. Ordered VERY late Sunday night and this board and other parts arrived right on schedule Thurs.
